Karen Norton-Sinell is a credited photographer, fiction and non-fiction author, and designer, with two books currently published.  She has 27 years of photographic experience, exhibiting in the Bay Area and Northern California galleries and shows since 1996.  She has won several local and international awards for her photography.  Her work is on permanent display in Northern California at the Chico History Museum, Stoner Jeffers & Associates, in Southern California at the corporate headquarters of Norton Packaging, and in the book 7-Color Cuisine.

With degrees in education and design, and continued membership in writing groups since 1977, Ms. Sinell is committed to education through the visual arts.  She has worked on several educational products as a writer, developer, editor, designer, and assistant film producer.

Sinell grew up in rural Montana and graduated from the University of Montana with a BA in Education and a second degree in Design.  She was exposed to art history in Vienna, Austria, and developed her photography on journeys across America and continued studies with New York Institute of Photography.  In addition to Frescoes by the Bay: Art, Artists and their Stories, Sinell is currently writing and illustrating the children’s book, Hodge Podge Lodge.  After graduating from California State University, Chico, with a Masters in Reading/Language Arts and working with students diagnosed with Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD), she saw the need for literature with a neurolinguistic approach emphasizing the sounds of the language.  It is evidence of her commitment to learning through visual art.  She currently lives in Sonoma County, California.
